AUCKLAND.
This day. Old Oxford and Cambridge University men dined at the Star Hotel last night; Bishop Cowie in the Chair. The Auckland Fibre Company have, in addition to the prizes secured at the local show, been successful in their exhibits in Canterbury, having gained the Agricultural d^hd Pastoral Association's prize, at their show last week, as well as a special prize of £5 5s for the best collection of ropes and twine made from N.Z. flax.
Mr W. P. Moat, who left on a trip to the Old Country some months ago, is expected to return to New Zealand in two months; it is believed that he will stand for the representation of Kodney at the first election.
Mr Shrimski, M.H.R., is still in town, and continues in an infirm state of health. While a resident at the Lakes, and undergoing a course of treatment at the baths, Mr Shrimski became quite well, but since leaving them, he has had a relapse.
