The inquiry which has been held lately into the working of the Lands Title Department has concluded. The report is understood to deal exhaustively with the unsatisfactory conduct of tbe Department, the careless manner in which titles are dealt with, delays in the transaction of business, inaccuracies in description, and other matters.

The list of delegates to the Irish Australian Convention embraces over 100 names. Among the Melbourne delegates is the Hon. Francis Longmore.

The promoter of the Orient sweep, Sinclair, has been fined £50, and £10 costs. Other smaller fry were fined in small sums.

H.M.S. Nelson arrived in Hobson's Bay on Sunday. She will be docked during her stay here.

Tuesday was made a general holiday in consequence of the arrival of His Excellency Sir Anthony Musgrave. On landing he was received with enthusiastic cheers and a salute from the battery. The Mayor presented an address, and a procession escorted his Excellency to Government House, where he was sworn in.
