An inquest on the body of Weal, who was shot at the Te Awamutu butts, was held yesterday. Dr Biundellj in his evidence, stated that he was called to see the deceased about 12 o'clock on Saturday, and found him suffering from a shock; rheumatic delirium set in, and was the cause of death. W. Leighton deposed that the deceased. was a bandsman in a cavalry corps, and was marking at the butts. At the time he was shot, no danger flag was waved, the disc danger signal only being used. Witness fired immediately before the fatal shot, and bis shot missed. It was unusual for a marker to leave the butts after a miss. About two minutes elapsed between the previous shot and the fatal one. Had deceased come out or signalled, he must have seen him. Similar evidence was given by other witnesses. The deceased blamed no one. A verdict of "Accidental death " was returned, and a rider was added that no firing should be conducted without danger flags, and holding Charles Alexander blameless.
