The telegraph authorities received the following from Port Darwin on the 25th : —" Ship paying off cable, and expects to be through to Baajoewangi this evening." At the meeting of the Harbor Board a notice was read from Government that a section of reclaimed land advertised for lease by . the Board, was . required by Government for a site for a new Printing Office. Some strong remarks were made at this action of the Government,,as the site is a very valuable one, and a deputation has been appointed to wait ou Government in the matter.
A,number of gentlemen who are interesting themselves in Longhurst's case held a meeting to-day, and later on one of them waited on the Minister of Justice, asking whit had been done with reference to the prisoner.. Mr Connolly replied that he would be able to giro a -definite reply within a month. . . . Major Atkinson left for New Plymouth this morning. It is expected that he will be absent about eight or tea days.
