A, few pounds of specimens were obtained to»day in breaking down the leader in the stopes. The manager intends to crosscut at the low level to pick up the footwall leader on which he has just started driving at the Bank of New Zea« land level, but he will first get Mrßayldon to estimate the distance to drive, so as to open it up at the most advantageous point. All the general dirt has been put through the stampers, and the specimens were treated to-day. Cleaning up and retorting will take place to-morrow.
ADELAIDE.
The proprietors of this claim have crushed 24 loads of general dirt at Bull's mill for the payable return of 29ozs 19dwts melted gold. This parcel of dirt was taken from the southern drive and leading stope on the City of Manchester reef, a distance of less than 150 feet from the Rocky Point boun« dary. The reef varies in size, being sometimes 18 inches wide. The quartz doea not show much gold, though all along the level it has shaped for an -average yield of over an ounce per load, the greater portion of the precious metal being hidden by the mineral.
