Wanganui, Yesterday. WANGANUI SPRING MEETING.
Maiden Plate.—-Scott's Ahua (3 years), 1; Powell's Leouessa (3 years), 2; Standish's Witiora (5 years), 3. Smith's Waxlight, Newland's Patience, and Wilson's Sweet Home also ran. The race was won by a length. The course was very heavy; it was raining hard, and all the horses were held in for the first part of the race, and were only let out on coming up the straight. Hxtbdies. —Nugent's Chevalier, 1; Hapeta Pitiman's Hinu, 2; Keith's Bugler, 3. Maurice O'Brien's .Reliance ran, but fell. The time was 4min,-50sec!\ The race was won by three lengths, and the same distance separated the second and third horses. Hinu pulled up very lame.
Hack Hurdles.—The Druid, 1; Blue* skin, 2; Grey Douglas, 3. , The Druid won easily.Wang&nct Stakes, £150.-—Powell's Bayard, 1; Keith's Hippona, 2; Chetham's Dan, 3. A good race was rub; Bayard was in splendid condition and didn't turn a hair. He won by a length and a half, while only a length separated the second and third horses. Witora, Patience, Ngata, and Lady Florence followed the first, three in the order named. * '/'".'.-
