London, October 15, shipment of frozen meat by the s.s. Catalonia, from New Zealand, has been found to be in good condition. A portion was placed on the market to-day, and
realised 6d per pound. The London meat market at present is glutted, and lower prices for all descriptions of meat are ruling.
London, October 16.
A serious riot occurred last evening at Gravesend between a number of roughs and a detachment of the Salvation Army, who were parading the streets. The fighting lasted some time, and the disturbance was only quelled by a body of police arriving on the scene.
The first portion of the shipment of f.'ozen mutton by the steamship British King was placed on the market to-day, a-id realised 6|d per pound.
The awards at the Fisheries Exhibition were officially announced to-day. Exhibits from New South Wales were allotted ten gold medals, eight silver, and four bronze, of which fourteen go to Sydney Museum. Tasmanian exhibitors take two go?d and two silver medals, and one diploma.
Capetown, October 16.
Telegrams from Pietermaritzburg ai?Lsance that Celewayo yielded to the representations of Mr Osborne, and agreed to surrender himself to the British authorities. The king crossed the border into Natal today, with an escort of British troops.
Washington, October 16.
The Governor of Ut.:h territory has recommended that a military force should be employ>. 1 to enforce the laws of the Union against the Mormons.
London, Oct. 17.
A great Congress [of Liberals met to* day at Leeds. There were delegates from all parts of the Kingdom present, besides a large number of members of Parliament. The chief topic to' be brought before the Congress is the extension of the franchise, and at the inaugural session to-day the leaders of the party delivered addresses bearing chiefly upon that subject.
Lisbon, Oct. 16.
A Eepnblican outbreak of some magnitude has occurred among the peasantry. In the main parta of this country a large number of rebels are armed, and a body of troops despatch'd against them were repulsed. Several persons have been wounded, but no deaths are reported to Lave occurred.

A man-of-war has been ordered to proceed to Hayti, to inquire into the reasons why the Government shelled a British steamer. ,
