AUCKLAND.

This day.

Through the medical treatment of Dr Bichardson, a young woman named Fowler, daughter of a schoolmaster at Maungaturoto, and who has .been blind from her birth, has had the infirmity removed. The young woman's sensations, and experiences on obtaining the power of sight have been very curious, as she had no idea of form or colour previously. Dr Richardson has directed her to wear cataract glasses, and as those of a suitable guage are not obtainable here, they are being procured in Melbourne. The Minister of Public Works, in response to a telegram frpm Mr Peacock, M.H.R., complaining of the inordinate delay in the construction of the railway line from Hamilton to Morrinsville, notified that gentleman yesterday that the plans, specifications, 'and advertisements, were forwardedby Thursday's steamer to Auckland.
