This day.

Another Native Stoppage. News arrived in town this morning that a survey party under Mr J. A. Thorpe, engaged on the survey of a sub-division, of the Murimotu block, were stop ped by the natives, under a < chief named Aropeta Haeratuerangi. When they came back to where their tent was left on Friday morning, they found everything gone, tent and ail, and on a search being made ,it was found that they had been taken by the chief, who refused to give up possession unless the survey is abandoned. Mr Thorpe has sent a messenger down to apply to the Government for assistance, and application will also be made to the police. No violence is reported.
