NEW PRINCE IMPERIAL. The No. 2 reef was broken down today in the eighth stope west above No. 5 level, and one hundredweight of specimens and picked stone was secured, making the total quantity on hand so far 9cwti The stone was 6b ained at a point about 15 feet seaward of the break. QUEEN OF BEAUTY. At No- 10 level the, seaward drive is making good progress The reef is about two feet wide in the face, and is heavily mineralised, bright silvery mundic being seen among the darker mineral. The reef has been nearly all broken down iu the winze from No. 9; at present it is about : 18inelies wide." and islodkingprat'ty well, though showing no gold. Northward of the shaft the stopes beyond the slide are the only ones being worked, the block opened up on the shaft side proving poor as. worked upwards, though it shaped well in the first three or four stopes. Two stopes, the third and fourth, ■ are in hand, and in both' the reef is 18 inches wide, carrying good minerals and showing dabs of gold when broken. The directors having decided to continue the northern drive, the manager has broken down the reef up to the face. It is fully six inches thick, and is larger than it was at last breaking down. No work is at present going on at No. 9 level. At No. 8, the winze started on the tributers' lead, in the footwall of the Queen of the May reef, is down about five feet, but none of the quartz has been broken yet. In the j d rive on the Queen of the Mav reef to reach the junction of the fributers' lead, there is i a strong body of- quartz 2ft. wide. ' It is looking much better than when work was started, and is earrj'ing good minerals. The junction should be met with about 10ft. ahead of the present face, and a number of small veins on the footwall should also strike into the main body at that point. In tho crosscut for theßird-in-Hand reef the country has been mottled and tighter for the last few feet, but a favorable change seems to becoming in. This drive has been extended 55ft. since Mr Wilson resumed work in it, leaving 140ft. still to go before the reef may be expected to come to hand, so that after the contract for 100ft, to be let to morrow, is finished, there will be only 40ft for he company to drive. ' MOANA.TAIRI. * At the 132ft. level, Heldt's section, the manager is driving on a leader striking towards No. 0 reef. The quartz so far has looked promising, and has showed a color or two of gold. There being about 20ft. to go to connect with the drive on No. 9 re.ef, the manager started to open out on the leader from the latter drive. He obtained lOlbs of stone from here on Saturday, and yesterday an additional 301bs came to hand from above the back of the drive, at a point about eight feet from No. 9 reef. A fair show of gold was left visible. This afternoon the reef was taken down between No. 9 reef and the point where the specimens were bagged yesterday, and the result will be seen by the following telegram despatched by the mine manager :—" 35lbs specimens acd picked stone obtained from same lead, a short distance from yesterday.—J. G. I Vivian." -

LONDON. The No. 2 reef was again broken down in the eastward drive at No. 3 level yes terday, and several strong colors of gold were seen in it. 'I he reef is still a nice compact body of stone, and showed more promising mineral yesterday than it has done since work was started. The manager intends to put through another trial parcel from here shortly. The winze being sunk on the hangingwall of No, 1 reef is down 40ft. No gold has been seen for some feet, but ;a good white class of sandstone has again come in, and some nice dabs of gold were seen yesterday in the hangingwall leader, which is about two inches wide. The eastern drivft at No. 4s level has been cleaned out for 150ft, and 25 faet more should roach the face, when tenders will bo called for driving to connect with the winzo on No. 1 reef.
