Parliamentary Gossip.
(PEOM OTTB OWN COEKESPONDBNT.) Wellington, This day.
; The labors of the Dargaville-Atkinson Enquiries Committee, so far as taking evidence on the first charge is concerned, are ended, and a report is expected to be made to the House on Monday or Tuesday. The evidence, both for and against, is voluminous, and is now being printed. I under-* stand that the Committee will not report that there are no grounds for Mr Dargaville's allegations, but will content themselves with stating that in their opinion they are not proved. One thing has tran* spired'as certain, viz., that there will not be any attempt made to induce the House to censure the member for Auckland West. It has taken nearly four weeks to arrive at this result, and there is not time to go into the other charges this session.
