Meiboubne, This day. Telegrams are to hand from Geraldson on the West Australian coast, stating that a tidal wave was experienced there on Monday last. The sea receded Fully a hundred yards, and enabled the people* to pick up a quautity of stranded fish,
Adelaide, This day, A slight*shock of earthquake has been experienced in this colony; Sydney, Yesterday. Judgment was delivered to day in the contempt of Court case. The proprietors of the Sydney Morning Herald, were
found guilty and sentenced to pay a fine of £250 on account of the articles published in their journal commenting unfavorably upon the conduct of Justice Inneg in connection with the slander case, Anderson v. Currie.'
It is considered probable that' the proposed colonial conference on the annexation question will be held here, and will take place about the beginning of November.

The Dutch Consui-General in this city has received a telegram, from the Gover-nor-General of the Dutch East Indies, dated August 29th, stating that in conse« quen'ce of the. volcanic eruption at Cracatoa, the features of the Straits of Sunda have been completely altered* The island Cracatoa, and the lighthouses at Forth Point and Wardenhock, have been destroyed, and great caution in navigating the Straits becomes necessary.
