WANGANUI.

This day.

At the Police Court this morning a woman named Josephine Green was brought up on two separate charges of stealing a quantity of wearing apparel, valued at £5, from Hawera, and wilfully murdering her infant child, Arthur Stanfield, otherwise Arthur Green, on the 11th of January last at Hawera. The merits of the case were not gone into, and the police asked for a remand to Hawera till Saturday next, when they will come on for hearing before the R.M, there. For the latter charge the woman had to be arrested in consequence of the., sudden and mysterious disappearance of her child.
