The latest intelligence received from Lograno reports that the garrison at that town submitted to the force despatched against it. . . '. . ' London, August 10. The trial of the two men IJeasey and Hanagan, who were arrested inLiyerpool in March last with dynamite in their possession, concluded to day. Both prisoners were found guilty, and sentenced to penal servitude for life. > A man named Oherlihy (sic) charged with being an accomplice of Deasey and Hanagan, was acquitted. Latest news from Madagascar states that the French garrison at Tamative is threatened with famine. The Hovas have refused to supply the troops with any provisions.

The Dutch papers suggest that the colonial exhibits at the Amsterdam Exhibition be given towards the foundation for a museum at Amsterdam. Mr Bonnard, the Executive Secretary for New South Wales, has been complimented by the Amsterdam residents on the excellence of the New South Wales exhibits.
Dr Alfred Barry, having declined a deanery, the Record is surprised that he accepted the See of Sydney. The Guardian congratulates the Colonial Church upon his appointment.
