NEW PRINCE IMPERIAL.

The eighth stope west above No. 5 lere\ was started yesterday. It will hare to be advanced about 25ft. before the show left in the back' of the seventh stope is touched. The Mariner's reef in the eastern drive at No. 4 level is now altering its course, and is steadily bearing round to the eastward. A few pounds of picked stone were bagged to-day from the footwall portion of this reef in the leading stope, near the winze. Crushing at the Herald mill was stopped yesterday, and the blanketings are; how . being ground up. No interim crushing of specimens will take place for the present. CALEDONIAN. Crushing was started yesterday with , 10 head of stamps at the Herald mill. The manager has now to grass over 100 loads of general dirt, all from the crossleader in the Bed Queen section. .■;. QUEEN OF ENGLAND. *** , The contractors for extending the drive seaward on the No. 1 reef at No. 3 level are now in 40 feet, and another 10 feet will finish the contract. The reef has lately opened out to a large size, and the drive is being carried on in the centre of it- The quartz is somewhat rubbly, which makes progress easier. ' BRIGHT SMILE. In breaking down the leader to-day ia the leading and third/ stopeg over the eastern drive, 801bs of specimens were iecured, and gold left showing in the face of the third stope.
