OUR MINES.

NEW PBINCE IMPEEIAL.

The manager reported yesterday morning:—" I have much pleasure in informing you that the cleaning up for the month has yielded 26280zs retorted gold from 637 loads of \quartz and 16cwt of specimens and picked stone. Stoping on the No. 2 lead, at No. 5 level, is pro ceeding as usual. No. 4 stope.in No. 2 section west, is up to the boundary; the men from here hare been removed back about 20ft to carry in a portion of the lead branching off into the hangingwall. After a few days' work here I will remove them to start No. 8 stope from the winze. The lead in the sth stope is looking well, although no big hauls of specimens have come to hand during the past week. No. 6 stope will be forward to the break in another 10ft. No. 7 stope, from which the big hauls of stone have been obtained during the last few days, continues to look well. There are about 4ft stripped, which will be broken down to-day, which ought to give us another good haul. The lead, in the stopes in No. 1 section east is looking better, and gold is showing more freely each breaking down. Driving and stoping on No. 1 reef. No. 4 level, are being carried on as usual. The quartz obtained from here continues,to crush well at the battery, and gold is frequently seen in all the stopes when breaking down. The show in the fifth stope, No. 2 section west, which has just been started from the Deep Level Cross boundary, is very promising, gold being visible all along the reef.-: According to arrangement, I took over the Alburnia battery on Saturday evening, and the fall force of the 22 head will now be employed on our own dirt. There are stilHS head at the Golden Crown and 10 head at the Herald running on our stuff, to reduce the accumulation of quartz during the stoppage of the batteries, caused by the breakage of the water race. -.G^S.Claek." > ; '..-

SEYMOUE. The contractors for driving the crosscut to intersect the Lucknow reef are in excellent country, and are making good progress. Since starting, less than a week ago, they have'driven 20ft, and the reef should be in hand next week. A number of small flinty reins have been passed through, and these are alt striking towards the reef, with which they will junction to the southward of the crosscut. The drive south on the leader cut in the chamber] is now in 35ft. The manager has picked up the reef beyond the branch slide which disturbed it a few feet back. It is now showing in the face about 18in wide, and driving will be continued on it as soon as possible. No breaking down has yet taken place, but the quartz looks well for gold, carrying favorable minerals.

LONDON. The No. 2 reef was broken down last night in the leading stope over the eastern drive at No. 3 level, and colors of gold were seen pretty freely through the quartz. ALBTJBNIA. A parcel of 24 loads of general dirt from the stopes on Dixon's reef above the intermediate level has been treated at the company's mill for the yield of 13ozs 15dwts melted gold. , , ,"'" BRIGHT SMILE. The dry weatherdately has greatly im» proved the condition of the Waibtahi road, and the manager yesterday commenced to. cart down . quartz to' Ahe Euranui Hill battery, where 10 head^ of stamps have been engaged.

KUiRANUI HILL. Since Barry's reef was cut in the northern crosscut from the prospecting shaft, it has been driven on 32 feet, averaging 9 inches in width. No gold has been seen in it. The lode is giving out a good deal of water, so the manager has stopped work from the shaft for the present. Crushing will probably be started towards the end of next week, and should the trials from Barry's and Hunt's prove satisfactory the manager will strongly recommend the directors to extend the Albion 80ft level, and connect it with the prospecting shaft. A winding engine could then be placed at the shaft, and the reefs worked to much greater advantage than, at present. i.,..,.. GOLD EETUENS. Cut of Manchester.—Scott and party have banked 4ozs 6dwts gold. Waitekauei No. l.^-Goonan and party, tribnterj, have brought down 21ozs 2dwts melted gold. *""';'
