[Received July 19th, 1.20 p.m] Alexandria, July 18. The Cholera. The cholera continues to spread at Cairo, and 61 persons are now suffering from the plague. London, July 18. Intelligence is to hand from Shanghai, that at the fete which was being held there last Saturday, a number of French sailors, who were present were stoned by an excited Chinese mob. The disturbance is supposed to bo the outcome of the present feeling towards the French in China. • London, July 18. The ship Colling worth (sic) Colling* wood, outward bound for Adelaide, was found to be on fire while in the Thames, and has been compelled to return to the docks. Mr Annesly, the British Consul at Paramaribo, Dutch Guiana, has been appointed Consal-General to Madagasa car. - The election foa a member for Wexford took place yesterday, and resulted in the return of William Redmond by a large majority over the O'Connor Don. Stanley, the explorer, has concluded an audience with the natives of the Congo country, and has succeeded in checkmating M. July 15. At the Wimbledon meeting, Sergeant McKay, of the lstßittalionof the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders, was' the winner of the Queen's prize, with a score of 79 points. . *
