Mr Gladstone admits that Baron de Lesseps bf « exclusive rights as to the construction of sauals across the isthmus of Sues.

London, July 12. At the inquiry before the Admiralty Court into a collision on April 24ih be tween the ships' British Commerce and County of Aberdeen, in which the former was cut down and sunk, the decisiou given held that the mate of the British Commerce was to.blame for the accident,'
The Court of Inquiry into the collision between the ship Hurunui and the barque Waitara attribute the cause of the disaster to the neglect of the captain and second officer of the Waitara.
Lord Dufferin has. been entertained at a .banquet at the Empire Club. In reply to the toast of his health, he said that he was confident that the colonies would always adhere to Great Britain if they were properly treated. . The Irish Land League announce that they have been advised that the brothers Bedmond expect to totally crush any opposition _ which they may meet in Mcl bourne. - t The Knglish Press complains that England's control of the Suez Canal is Unsecured. The French.are jubilant. The English Government will guarantee to provide capital for the construction of a second canal across the Isthmus of Suez, on condition that Baron de Lesseps reduces v the tariff, appoints a-British naval officer as Inspector of Navigation, and gives precedence to English pilots. It is mentioned that the Bishop of Lincoln intends to resign.
