The death is announced of the Bight Hon. Wo. Thomas Knollys, usher of the black rod in Parliament.
The New Zealand Shipping Company's vessel Hurunui, which sustained serious damage in a collision withthe Waitaraon Saturday in the English Channel, has been dooked for repairs. The Board of Trade will hold an enquiry on Friday into the circumstances. . The Annameße are busily engaged in making preparations for the renewal of hostilities with French troops, The former have retired te Soutig, which place they have surrounded with trenches. Owing to the paucity of their numbers, the French General considers it unwise to renew the attack upon the enemy at present, and he is accordingly awaiting the arrival of the reinforcements which have been despatched by Government. ; The trial of Norman* one of the men committed on a charge of being concerned in the recent explosion in London, was concluded yesterday. The jury brought in a verdict of not guilty, and ihe prisoner was discharged. ' :■■
