At the Supreme Court Julia O'Bierne was sentenced to twelve months for larceny from the dwelling.—H. T. Hewling? was acquitted on a charge of stealing frem a hotel. This day. The Wellington, and Manawatu Railway Co. will to-day call for tenders for the construction of 7 mil- s of line, extending from the Fitzherbert Bridge in a southerly direction. It is understood that Henderson and Co., of Otago, are the successful ten ders for the Forirua Bridge contract on the line; the price is just under £18COO. The reported withdrawal by Shaw, Saville and the Albion Co. of their order for building steamers for a direct service; to New Zealand is authoritatively denied. Arrived at 2 p.m.: the Wakatipu from Sydney.
