Thf City Council has finally resolved on n loan of £200.009 for water supply extension, drainage, and street formation. The money is to be nllocated in the Bill to the varions wards. This decision is subjec( to a poll. At a meeting of the Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Mr Thomas Bussell, the Chairman, congratulated the company on the prosperous condition of the colony, and the company's business. There were good openings for their operations which they could not avail themselves of, owing to insufficient capital, and when he reached England he would consult the London Board on the question of providing further capital. Plans were ex , hibited of extensive offices and stores in Melbourne which were found necessary to meet the company's extensive business in the uei#Libourn>g colony.
