The b >dy of Alfred Firth, the son of a Sheffield Philanthropist, who was drowned at Sotorua, has been placed in a lead coffin to be forwarded to England. His effects have been sent to the Public Trustee at Wellington. Hennckon's jeweller's store, Victoria street, was broken into during the night and a complete sweep was made of the stock of watches, jewellery, etc., value fifteen hundred pounds. It is supposed the burglars entered from the back of the premises. No clue has as yet been discovered as to the perpetrators. Yesterday. Richard Hobb, M.H R., was unable to proceed by the Hinemoa to Wellington, i owing to the daily expected death of his I father the Rev. John Hobbs.
