PAEROA.
(from ottb own cobbbspondent.) Saturday. The annual meeting of the Ohinemuri Licensing Bench took place to-day in the PaeroaPublic Hall. Present: Messrs Mitchell (Chairman), Goonan, Lipsey, Austin, and Bobson. The following for renewal of licenses were granted: D. Cloonan, Paeroa Hotel; J. M. Coote, Commercial Hotel; M. G. Power, Alt Nations Hotel; J. H. Mahoney, Belmont Hotel; P Bennett, Criterion Hotel; C. Nash, Mackaytown Hotel; J. H. Walsh, Owharoa Hotel; A. Shepherd, Tramway Hotel (WaitekauriJ; Thomas Corbett, Waibi Hotel.
Applications for new licenses :—Christina Thompson, Karangafaake Hotel, Mackatftown. The building for which the applicant required the license was not favourably reported .upon by the police, and the application was, therefore, refused. John Earl, Royal Hotel, Owharoa. The granting of this license was objected to by a number of persons who reside in the immediate neighborhood of the site selected for the hotel. The Bench were unanimously of the opinion that, in the meantime, Walsh's hotel afforded ample accommodation to meet the requirements of the district, and the application was accordingly refused. J. MoCombie, Waverly Hotel, Karangahake. This application was granted conditionally, which means that the applicant mußt within the ensuing six months complete the proposed building, of which a ground plan was sub' mitted for the approval of the Bench. Nicholas Clegry, Exchange Hotel, Karangahake. In this case the applicant failed to define the site for the new building, and in order to enable him to do so, the case was adjourned for a fortnight.
