•■ ,>Ji■<■:..<"•') ■■-::- .■■.••■ ..Yesterday. ■ A well attended meeting of subscribers totbe Telephone Exchange was held in the [Chamber of Commerce to-day,—Mr J. E. Nathan in tho chair. The following resolution was unanimously agreed to: —" This i meeting is of opinion that the charges for the use of the telephones are so "excessive as to place it beyond the reach'of numbers who would otherwise avail themselves of iis benefits, and*''that the limited hours j allowed to subscribers are'suck as to warrant a consideration as to the advisability of their continuing to subscribe, and that a deputation.be appointed to.interview the Government'on" the subject."" A* -general opinion was expressed that a substantial reduction should be made in the.subs.cription, that-the area witUin which connectiou will be made without extra charge should be extended to one mile, and that the cx j change should be open all night.- Messrs J. E. "Nathan, J. "B. Harcourt, E. T. GUlon. W. F. Wheeler, C. E. ,Zohrab, and T. K. "Mac Donald "were appointed' a deputation to interview the Commissioner of Telegraphs ou the subject. j
