Public Opinion learns from the report of the director of the United States Mint that the production of gold and Silver throughout the world in 1881 was in. excess of that for the previous year, the value being:—lßßl: gold, 107,773,157 ! dols; silver, 97,659,460 dols. 1880: gold, 106,436,786 dols; silver, 94,551,060 dols.
