OUR MINES.

MOANATAIEI

The No. 2 reef at the 80ft. level has been driven on eastward for 10 feet, and has shown gold freely for that distance. The reef in the stope is a strong body of quartz, showing gold when broken. The hanging wall leader here produced 35lbs. of picked stone during the last few days. The results of two trial lots fro.m No. 9 reef, immediately above the 80ft. level, are as follows: Heldt's section : 5 tons, yielding 6ozs amalgam; Redan section; 3 tons, 3ozß 5d wfcs amalgam, both of which are just equivalent to Bdwts of gold per ton. and are payable where the reef makes large, and is not very difficult to work, its variations in width being from 1 to 4 feet. The tests are very satisfactory, and as soon as the Bedan shaft has been repaired stoping will be commenced on the reef. The battery will be kept employed if the block yields as well as the trial lots.

MARINES.

The reef at No. 5 level has been stripped for about 40ft in length, 20ft each side of the crosscut, and it will be broken down next week. A shot fired in the dig of the western drive yesterday, 14ft from the crosscut, tore out a little of the footwall portion of the reef, and several good colors of gold were seen in one piece of quartz. The stone carries an excellent class of mineral.

LONDON.

The western dig on the footwall of No. 1 reef at No. 3 level is only in about 8 feet, but eastward it is between 16 and 18, in a good class of country. A small stringer in the sandstone was come upon yesterday, and some good strong colors and dabs of gold were seen in it. The quartz is white and vuggy. The Nos. land 2 reefs in this portion of the mine are running towards each other, and the stringer is apparently striking from No. 1 to No. 2.
