OUR MINES.

NEW PRINCE IMPERIAL.

During Saturday afternoon another parcel of good picked stone and specimens were begged. 401bs from the second stope over the Mariner's reef in the eastern drive came from a point just above where the lcwt. of stone was i bagged in the drive. The reef in the drive now occupies the whole face. Afc No. 5 level the reef westward is looking well both in the drive and stopes, and each breaking down in both places a few pounds of stone come to band. The manager reported on Saturday evening :— " The lead in the western dri?e, No. 5 level, is still looking well. I think the gold we are now getting here is the continuation of the rich run which turned out so well on No. 4 level. To day 851bs of specimens and picked stone came to hand from the following places in the mine :—lslbs from drive No. 2 section west, No. 5 level; 301bs from second stope, No. 1 section west, same level; and 401bs. from second stope on No. 1 reef. No. 1 section west, No. 4 level. The dirt being crushed continues to shape for a good return. Cleaning up and retorting will take place on Thursday next.—G. S. Cla.be. ALBURNIA. During the past few days a parcel of 29 loads of quartz from the stopes above the intermediate level on Dixon's reef has been treated at the battery. Retorting, took place this morning, and the melted yield was 22ozs. 19dwts. gold. This is a better result than was obtained from the last parcel treated. SEYMOUR. Excellent progress is being made with the sinking of the shaft, and a distance of 15 feet was sunk last week by the three shifts employed, besides timbering up. The depth from the surface is now 138 ft, leaving only 62 to sink before opening out. The country continues favorable, and the amount of water to contend with has not increased. A leader'about* six inches wide was passed through last week. The quartz looks well, carrying good mineral, though no gold was seen. The leader is dipping to the south-east, and should junction with the reef the manager intends to drive for at a point above the level.
