This day.

A robbery of jewellery occurred recently either at Wellington, Kaikoura, or on board the steamer Wakatu. MrShipington, anew arrival, took passage toKaikaura by steamer, and on arrival at his destination his boxes were sent to his hotel.. Two. or three days later they were removed to his future abode, when it was then found thaf one box had been tampered with, and Mr Shippington says that jewellery to the value £100 had been abstracted. On the return of the Wakatu early this morning the detectives made a careful examination of the crew, nothing suspicious being however found.

An Order in Council has been prepared extending the time for the election of all Road Boards which were not elected during the first week in May to the whole of the month of June (not only to the first week as originally intended, but to any day in the month upon which the Road Board may fix). The order will shortly be gazetted.
