Some important indications of the Government policy during the ensuing session are contained in a letter sent by the Premier to the Christchurch Chamber of Commerce. In reply to representa-s tions made by that body Mr Whitaker states that the non-political management of railways is still under the consideration of the Cabinet, and a decision will be come to before the session opens, when either a bill will be introduced or a reason given early in the session why the Government cannot propose such a measure; he further states that the Government will propose to the Assembly that provision be made for the appointment of a Minister of Agriculture. ■
Mr Bowron has been appointed to impart instruction with reference to the manufacture of cheese, butter, and bacon, and is now at work.
A bill oVaiirj^ with the t^nkruplcy question has been prepared, and will be introduced early in the session. ■>.{?
