It was resolved that Sir John Coode be informed that the dredging done has had the effect of deepening the bar by two feet, notwithstanding that there have been many storms this year 4. ■.

The sensational story from Teviot has turned out to have been a false alarm, the police haviug received the following telegram from the constable stationed in the district: —" Pound the bones of a human being in a gully twenty nine miles from Roxburgh, in the ranges. They are all disconnected and decoyed. There is no appearanc of foul play. It looks as if the body had been there for the last eight or ten years, and that the deceased person had been lost in the snow. There is no chance of identification."
