WELLINGTON.

Yesterday.

The New Zealand Shipping Company's chartered steamer British Queen arrived from London at 3 o'clock this afternoon. The passage occupied 50 days. During the passage measles broke out, and as there were a few mild cases on her arrival here, Dr Henry, the Health Officer, ordered the steamer to quarantine. She will, it is expected, be admitted to pratique to-morrow morning. The passage was an uneventful one. This day. William Boniface, of the Marine Hotel at Eiverton, writes to ihe New Zealand Times asking on what terms Hearn, the sculler, would meet Harrington, of Riverton. He suggests that a match should be arranged to be, rowed on the Apartma river for a stake not to exceed £100. Hearn has sent a reply that he is willing to row Harrington, and will allow him £20 to come to Wellington, or take £^0 and go to River ton.
