[Received May 12,1 p.m.] Sydney, This day. Before the conclusion of the sitting of the Intercolonial Conference, a resolution was passed in favor of the reduction of the rates on Press telegrams from Europe by 25 per cent. It was also decided that intercolonial telegrams between Victoria and New South Wales should be reduced to Is per 10 words, the other colonies represented not agreeing to a similar reduction.

Melbourne, Yesterday

A fatal accident occurred at Gordon Gully mine, at Sandhurst, this afternoon. Two men were ascending the shaft when the bucket jerked, and both men were thrown out, and fell to the bottom of the shaft, a distance of 170 feet. Both bodies were terribly mutilated.
