OUR MINES.

NEW PRINCE IMPERIAL. The reef in the west drive at No. 5 level, beyond the break, has again been taken down and a few picked stones came to hand, gold being seen through the general stuff. The leading stope over this drive also yielded a few lbs of good stone when the reef was last broken. At No. 4 level the drives east on Nos. 1 and 2 reefs continue to look well, a few stones being bagged from both places yesterday. DEEP LEVEL CROSS. The winze on the No. 2 reef has been baled out, and sinking was resumed this morning. It is the manager's intention to continue this winze straight to the 640 ft level, a distance of 300 ft vertical from No. 4 level. The drive at No. 3 level to cut the crosscourse from which the water is issuing will be put in on the hangingwall of the reef. MARINER AND LONDON. The water this afternoon was down 55 feet below No. 4 level, and another 7 or 8 feet will take it to the top of No. 5 chamber. A large quantity of old timber has been taken out of the shaft. The drive at No. 3 level has been cleaned out in to the old tributers' workings on the No. 1 reef. These have collapsed, but no time will be lost in clearing.them. SMILE OF FORTUNE (OWHAROA). The company have only been crushing with five head of stamps, but the dirt is shaping for the splendid return of 3ozs to the ton. Campbell and party, tributers, have crushed 40 loads for the good yield of 7Oozs melted gold. PINAFORE. A late report from the manager says : —■Since my last report I have continued drive on hangingwall of big reef 30 feet, making the total distance driven on Gladstone tunnel level 60 feet. The last 20 feet have been driven through a splendid

channel of country—a white blocky sandstone, with a number of mineral seams running through it.' The quartz that we are carrying along with us is of a kindly description, and contains a large percent' age of mineral. From its general appearance and the class of country, I would expect to get gold at any moment. It may be mentiened that the Gladstone tunnel is in a distance of 480 feet, and that the big reef was intersected at 180 feet from the mouth. lam driving on it in the direction of the Pinafore workings, and am not far from being under where [ worked the small leader, which I calculate is about 60 feet overhead. | THAMES GOLDEN CROWN. The manager reports:—During the week the work in the mine has been confined to the two crosscuts. Crosscut at intermediate level between 100 and 170 feet levels has been driven a distance of 22 feet. I expect to cut a leader about the end of the present week. The drive is passing through a splendid class of country. Crosscut between 100 feet and battery levels: After driving the crosscut a few feet a leader .was met with, ruuning almost tbe same direction as the drive, but'only a few points to the north from the intended crosscut. Therefore, I have continued the drive along the course of leader, which has shown a few colors of gold, but nothing of any consequence so far.—(Sd.) T. A. Dttnlop. GOLD KETUKNS. Caledonian. —Williams and party's crushing of three loads gave 9ozs 3dwts.
