Yesterday.
The Chairmau of the Hokitiki School Committee was sued for £17 to pay for coal supplied to the Hokitika State scool. The Magistrate noa suited the plaintiff who intends to proceed against the Board of Education. The local committee have no funds, and the head master says if fuel is not procured the scholars must^be sent home. The committee, at a special meet" ing held to-day, resolved to find funds to provide fuel till the next meeting of the Board, when, if no money is forthcoming, the school will be closed. day after taking evidence here. The local railway league had a iong interview with the Commissioners, to whom they furnished amplestatistics.
