The Hinemoa was at the Bay of Islands yesterday, and after coaling she steamed for, Mokohinau and Tiritiri lighthouses, and will arrive here tomorrow to be at the service of the Governor. Mr G. T. Wilkinson, Native Agent, who accompanied Mi Bryce through the King country as far as Mokau, has returned to Auckland.
Mr Mills, managing director of the Union Company is here on business in connection with refrigerating the steamers.
The steamers Diamond and Hyane are expected to leave port to-morrow.
Several Maori chiefs attended the Salvation Army yesternight. They said the preaching was exactly like that of Te Whiti.
A parcel of quartz brought from an unknown locality was assayed at the Bank of New Zealand, and gave gold at the rate of 81ozs, and silver at the rate of 2000ozs per ton.
