AUCKLAND RACE MEETING. [Pee Peess Association.] ; Racecoubse, Saturday. The following events were run after our report closed on Saturday:— ■•■; 'Easteb Handicap, 200sovs, with a sweepstake of 7sovs each, distance 2 miles.—Capt. Russell's Leonora, Bst 21 bs, Clifford, 1; Sfcandish's Normanby, 7st 71bs, McCormick, 2; J. Barr Brown's Maori* 7st 41bs, G. Laing, 3. Tim Whiffler, Poet, Merlin, Larry, Winnie, Moonstone, and Taupiri also ran. The betting was 2 to 1 against Tim Whiffler, 3 to 1 against Leonora, 6 to 1 against Normanby and Merlin, 10 to ,1 anything else. Larry was off first and Taupiri last. On passing the grand stand Moonstone had taken the lead, Winnie on his quarter, Normanby and Poet half a length behind them. Coming out of the cutting Normanby led, and Leonora came up and took second place. A splendid zace down the straight took place between them, and was won by Leonora by half a length, Normanby second Maori thyd, and Poet fourth. Time; ■ 3mins 4ysecs. The totalisator dividend was £4 ' . Selling Race, 50sovs., weight for age, lj miles —Bobbet's Paramena, 7st 91bs (Gr. Williams), 1; Vallance's Jack, 7st 131bs (Wattie), 2; Yuba Bill, 7st 91bs (J. Laing), 3. Kingask, Yatapa, Larry, Mystery, and Cadet also ran. The betting was level on Jack, 8 to 1 against Paramena, 3 to 1 against Mystery, 7 and 8 to 1 against the rest. They got off well; Paramena first, Kingask second, and Jack third. At the back of the course Jack fell into the fifth position. Paramena, still well in front, led through the. cutting, when Jack came up. Paramena won by three-quarters of a length. ■ Mystery was fourth. Time, 2miris. 20§secs. The totalisator dividend was £12 16s.
