ALEXANDRA
Yesterday.
Mr Bryce and party are still "stuck up" here, and will be for seven 1 days more—Monday morning at the earliest being low fixed for the stavt. A miß« senger was despatched to the meeting at Te JTuiti this morning to ascertaiu the movements of Wetere Te Berenga, bring what news there may be as to the meeting, and ascertain the statj of the rivers on the way. The rc:a has ceasod •face yesterday morning, except for occa*
sional showers, and there is now every indication of fine weather, the wind having gone round to the westward ; but the river is still rising, and the Alexandra bridge is in extremis. The water is flowing over a large part of it, and no part is more than two feet from the water. The towns people are continually on the outlook to see it go. Mr Bryce will hare a strong escort of Ngatimaniapoto, some 100 men. Wetere te Eerenga has not yet returned from Euiti, the meeting having been doubtless delayed by the floods. That the Native Minister will carry his point and go through, there is little doubt, but not without strong protest.
