It has been raining in torrents for some days, and the country is flooded everywhere. It stopped this morning, however, and the weather now shows some sign of clearing. The rivers are very high-, and the Waipa Bridge is regarded as almost certain to go, the water being now within five feet of the top of the centre. Wetere te Rerenga is expected from Mokau tomorrow night if he can get through. He brings a large number; of men, variously estimated at from 50 to 100, to act as an escort to Mr Bryce and party. The Europeans of the party will. nnmher twelve, being Messrs Bryce, Lewis, Butler,Hursthouse, Newsham, Cussen (District Surveyor), Wilkinson (Native Agent)*; two orderlies; and three Pressmen, Messrs Adams; Douglas, and Chamtaloup, Through the state of the country rionews; has reached here re the large meeting of Ngatimaniapotos; now 'being held at Te Kuiti. .
