TIMARU.

Yesterday.

At a meeting of the public school committee to-night there were 22 applications, from all parts of the colony, for the post of bead master. Mr Jas. Scott, the present master, was reappoihted. A 4 roomed cottage, in Eussell Square, was burnt down this afternoon. 'It was owned by Mr Brown, and was insured. The fire took place during the absence of the father and mother, only the children being in the hquse. The insurance on the building was £100 in f the Victoria office.
