This day. The forty-second anniversary of Tara*. naki was celebrated to day, and obssrved as a holiday. The first day of the Jockey Club races commenced at noon. The weather is fine and there is only a moderate attendance. Maiden Plate.—Landseer, Bst 41bs, 1; Patience, Bst 21bs, 2; Parera, Bst 21bs, 3. Satoria led for the first half mile, when Landseer and Parera came away with a rush. Patience going on then, and eventually taking a lead until reaching the straight, when she was collared by Landseer and Parera, and a splendid race home ensued, the former gradually gaining and coming in winner by a full length, the same distance separating the second and third horses. Time, 2min 52secs. Totalisator 180,40 being on the winner and 87 on Parera. Handicap > Steeplechase. — Christmas, list slbs, 1; Reform, list lOlbs, 2; Lightning, 9st lOlbs, 3. Time, 7min 31jsecs. Totalisator, 136 in; 40 on Eeliance, 45 on Christmas. Jockey Clnb Handicap, 3Cosovs., 2 miles : Leonora 7st. 121b5,, 1; Normanby 6st. 121b5,2.
