AUCKLAND.

This day.

News by the Suez mail, states that Shaw, Saville, and Co. have ordered three 5000 ton steamers from Denny, of Dumbarton for direct service with New Zealand.

The Hon. Buck'ey, M.L.C., is at present in Auckland.

The firing for Beck's Cup and Evening Star Cup was completed yesterday. It is a moot point who is the winner of the former. The Thames Navals sent five representatives. Three of these are the head scorers, but it is said that the Cup was a gift to the Auckland volunteers alone, and that therefore the Thames men were excluded. If so, Taylor, of the Victoria Company, who is fourth on the list, becomes the winner of the Cup.

Beck's Cup.—Gill, 67; Weir, 66; Floyd, 64; Taylor (Victoria Co.), 61;, Adams (Victoria Co.), 59; Webster (Artillery), 68; White (No. 3), 57; Leigh, 57; Allan, Bell, and Woolley, 57. Cameron made 53, and Parslow 52.

Stab C'tJP.—-Hosking, honorary member, 71; Woolley, 70; Taylor, 69; Hanley, 68;. Parslow, 66. The top Thames men were: Floyd, 65; Cartwright, 64; Weir, 60; Cameron, 60; Gill, 58.
