Thames Railway Co. Deputation.

Wellington, This day.
Messrs Robert Graham and W. Fraser, Mayor of Thames, waited on the Minister of Public Works and the Minister of Lands this morning, as a deputation from the Thames Valley Railway Co., their object being to secure a promise from the i Government of certain lands under the Railway Construction Act. Ministers pointed out that the lands in question were not yet the property of Government, and appeared unwilling to give any pledges regarding them. The deputation stated that they were willing to guarantee expenditure upon the works, and in the same proportion as had been accepted from the Tauranga Railway Company;no conclusion was come to; the deputation undertaking to put their requirements in writing. A further interview is to take place after Ministers have considered them.
