The Easter encampment of volunteers at Windsor and the Middle Heads passed off mostsuccessfully.
: There was an immense traffic yesterday on the trams, railways, and harbor steamers. They were crowded with excursionists. At one of the favorite resorts, the Balmoral steamer jetty when covered with people collapsed, and numbers were precipitated into the water, but all were speedily rescued.
Melbouhne, Yesterday. At the election for West Bourke to day the Hon. A. Deakin, Minister for Public Works, was re-elected, defeating Sir Bryan O'Loghlen by a large majority. Tyhe following is the state of the poll: — r»jaken, 1888; O'Loghlen, 1186.
Sydney, Monday. Arrived, yesterday afternoon: The Union Company's steamship, Wairarapa, from Auckland.-
