T.W. Carr and Sons.
At the meeting of the creditors of Messrs T. W. Oarr and Sons, storekeepers, Te Aroha, held yesterday in Auckland, Mr W. J. Hurst presided. In answer to questions the debtor stated that he had called this meeting through not being able to carry on, having exceeded his capital, and also through pressure by the bank. He stated his assets at £30,274; book debts, £4200; liabilities, £28,748. In July last he promised to give the bank security whenever demanded. On the sth inst. the bank demanded it, and he gave it for everything. Was not well aware what he had signed—whether it was a bill of sale or not. His bills were not met even after giving the seourity. On Saturday last he gave Messrs McArthur and Co. a bill of sale on his property and stocks. Mr Larking stated to the meeting that on receiving the bill he learnt that things were not astheyßhoold be, and at his suggestion, in consultation with a few others, this meeting was convened^ The meeting then elected Mr R. K. Davis as trustee; Messrs Larking, J. Chambers, John Read (Thames), and A. Heather were appointed a committee of advisers to act with the trustees. The meeting then adjourned to Wednesday next. - The following are the assets in the estate —Moore's store, stock, and alterations, £3.132; extra stock, £4,000; book debts, £2,500, Lavery's ironmongery business, £2.243; extra stock, £1,500. Butchery business, £1,070; bfrok debts, -€800. Sawmills, £1,500; stock, £500; book debts, £500. Bullocks and drays, £100. Waiorongomai store and house, £923; stock, £1,500; book debts, £900; Hill store and stock, £300; house and land, £1260; 1500 acres of land at le, Aroha, £6,750; at Grant and Foster's block, £6750; share in Cox's steamer, £96; mining shares, £700. "■> The principal creditors are:—Messrs Arthur and Co., of Glasgow, £1002; A. Heather, £768; Lavery, £1134; Me Arthur and Co., £1881; T. and S. Morrin, £1948; O. H. Stafford, £380; Porter and Co., £570; Thames Hirer Steamboat Co., £643; Thornton, Smith, and Firth, £365 : Walker and Wolverham, £795; Grant and Forster, £2400; Bank of -New Zealand £9740; E. T. Cox, £383; Bag. nail Bros, £215; Carr and Son, North Shields, £346; J. Bead. Thames, £537; Thompson and Sinclair, £100, The total assets are £29,774.
