The Hon. C. H. Bromby, of Tasmania, arrived at the Thames on the 2lst, and will lecture in the Academy of Musio on Monday and Tuesday evenings next, the 26th and 27th of March, on " The English in Ireland." During Mr Bromby's tour, he has lectured to crowded and enthusiastic audienoes in the colony, and the highest eulogiums have been passed by the Press and public on hia deliverances. We expect the hon. gentleman will meet with crowded audiences at his really interesting lectures.
Mr Bryce has returned to Auckland from the Waikato, and will remain in the district till near the end of the month, and expects to have a conference with the Premier before returning South. Mr Whitaker will be in Auckland in a fortnight. Mr Bryce contemplates returning to Wellington by the West Coast, going to Alexandra, through to Mokau, and thence to New Plymouth. He hopes before the meeting of Parliament to have preliminary explorations made of three proposed routes of the main trunk railway. The explorations are intended to be .of such a nature as will satisfy Parliament as to the practicability of any of the routes.
It is stated that Te Kooti has heard all About the threats that have been made by the people of Poverty Bay. This has caused him some apprehension, and it is believed that he has written to the Native Minister on the subject.
