The face is ia about 18 feet, and the reef is somewhat smaller than when fust cat, but-the quarlz is well mineralised, and showed gold when broken down. this morning. The crosscut has been pushed on about 15 feet past the hangingwall of the reef, but there is as yet no sign of the quartz appearing on the right hand side~\>f!'tne break.. The country is . favorable for progress, and also for goKUbearintr lodes. At the eastern side of the shaft driving is in progress on the No, 2 reef.and footwall leader. The former bodj; of qua.tz is about 2ft. in thickaesi^bat thero are also several stringers on the' footwall. h The quartz looks well for gold. A leading stope is being carried along over;this drive, so a<* to ventilate'it more thoroughly. The footwall leader is about a foot in width. The stopes are being carried on as usual, and are looking .well, and the general dirt is shaping for a good return at the battery. " . DEEP LEVEL CROSS. The drive north on the hangingnrall leader, at No. 4 level of the Imperial shaft, is in over 50 feet Trom No^YSdef, and a few feet more driving will take it to the boandary. The quartz is of good size and well mineralised.,. The stopes are being worked as usuii; andHhere is very little change to report since last week ; gold beinjj freely se m, fchough-not so much pioked stone is coming to hand. The full force of the Herald mill is employed on company's dirt- 24 houra per day, and it is shapiug for a good yield.
