'.."'• Yesterday. A two-roomed cottage, owned and occupied by a widow named Tauffe was burned down this morning. Six children from 2| to 11 years of age were saved in their night dresses. The furniture and clothes became a total loss. The house was insured it the Standard for £400. This is the same house, in Hereford street East, outside the Belt, where the woman Ctvanagh committed suicide recently. The cause of the fire is supposed to be a defective chimney. The tramway guard this morning found on Heathcote River bank, a woman's clothing. The police are dragging for the body. , A Coursing Club for Upper Biccart n was established on Saturday night. There is to be an open meeting on April 2 and 3. The Christehurch Bowling Club bade farewell to its President, Mr P. Cunningham, on Saturday. There was a large gathering of ladies and gentlemen.
