Thames Goldfields Hospital.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Committee was held yesterday afternoon. Present—The Eevs. P. O'Reilly (in. the Chair), Calder, and Davies, Dr Kilgour, and Messrs Hume, Ahier, McGowan, Mennie, Deeble, Noonan, Mulligan, Comer, and Qsborne. The minutes of the two previous meetings were read and confirmed. The House Committee reported that in connection with the compilation of rules for the regulation of the Old Men's Ru« fuge they would probably be finished during the month; that a porch should bo built at the back door in the female ward ; that Mr Holiis had prepared plans and specifications for alterations to the , fever hospital. Accounts for £84 11s sd, ' and salaries to the amount of £69 18s 8d were recommended to be paid. The estimate of the architect for alterations tc the fever hospital was £168.—1t was decided to ask the Church Missionary Society to grant the freehold, of the five acres of land at Parawai on which the building stands. . The Treasurer reported:—Receipts: To balance of cash, 31st January,- Is 8d; subscriptions, £1 6a ; patients' charges, £5 12s 6d; garden (including the sale of* one pig, £1 6s), £2 ss; bank overdraft, 28th February, £76118s 9d.— Total, £771 3s lid.—Expenditure: By bank overdraft 31st January, £548 : salaries, £97 15s 2d ; maintenance, £47 Is 9d ; medical comforts, [ £6 11s. 4d; drugs and appliances, £16 2s Id ; furniture, £6 19s sd; clothing, £3 17s 6d ; bedding, £318s; printing, £112s 6d ! garden, £1; miscellaneous expenses, £12 5s 9d ; fever hospital salaries, £6 14s 3d ; fever hospital rent, £19 ; balance of cash, 6s 2d.—Total, £7713s lid.—Assets: Gash balance, 6s 2d; amount due from 1 Government and applied for, £562 17s 1 10d.—Liabilities: salaries, £69 18s 8tl; month's accounts, £84 Ilssd; Bank New Zealand, £761 18s 9d.—Since the beginning of tlie month the treasurer had received (he amount due from the Govern* ment, so that the overdraft had been reduced t0"£199 Os lid. The statement was adopted.' The Surgeon in his report suggested that, as additional accommodation was required /for male patients,. this ward should be erected. The matter was re* ferred to the House Committee' with power to aot. Dr Huztable reported that two patients bad been received into the fever hospital during the past fortnujhl, and that several alterations would be required.

Report referred to the House Committee with power to act. —The Secretary reported that applications had been made to the various churches asking them to make a collection in aid of the Hospital funds. He believed that the Church of England and the Baptist congregation had made col* lections, and that the Catholic Church had postponed doing so until their mission was over. The Wesleyan body regretted thatcircumstances prevented them making the collection asked for. The Rev. W. Davies tendered his resignation. as a member of the Committee. It was accepted with regret.—The Rev. Calder and Messrs Brodie, Osborne, and Comer were appointed a House Committee for the month. Thi9 closed the, meeting.
