It is stated to be probable that Mr Berry's re-election for Geelong will be opposed. It is announced that an amalgamation is to take place of the businesses of the National, the Australasia, and the Australia Felix Insurance Companies. Melbourne, Yesterday. The cricket match between the Hon. I?o Bligh's team and eleven of Vie toria was resumed and concludod to-day. The Englishmen, with seven wickets down for 47,' continued their

first innings, which closed for a total of 55. Vernoa was bowled for 3, and G. B. Studd for 2; Hon. Ivo Bligh, not out, for 4. Being 229 behind their opponents, the Englishmen folio wed on, but only succeeded in putting together 146, and the Victorian team thus won the match by one innings with 73 runs to spare. The weather during the day was showery, and the wicket very heavy, owing to yesterday's rain. The following; is the score of the Englishmen's second innings :—O.T.
