The new Episcopalian Church of St. Peter's erected at Lake Takapuna at a cost of £600, was opened this afternoon by Bishop Cowie. v ***

Mr Albert Walker renewed his application at the Waste Lands Board fora lease of land in the Manukau harbour for ironsand workings, but was refused, the applicant being denied a hearing. Mr D. A. Tole, Crown Lands Commissioner, left by the Wellington for Tauranga in order to pay the Hotorua natives for the lands leased from them by the Government under the terms of the Thermal Springs Act, 1881. The leases are for 99 years, and the amount Mr Tole has to pay oter is £1800.
